POSITION SUMMARY:

The Utilization Review Specialist will obtain prior and ongoing authorizations for all levels of care offered within our facility; inpatient detoxification, outpatient detoxification, intensive outpatient program, and individual therapy.

Job Requirements:

• Conducts reviews in accordance with certification requirements of insurance plans or other managed care organizations and coordinate the flow of communication concerning reimbursement requirements.
• Maintains knowledge of current health plan and agency requirements.
• Inform clinical and medical staff of any specific concerns that would extend or restrict the length of stay of clients.
• Facilitate peer review calls between facility and external organizations.
• Assist in providing ongoing support and training for staff on documentation or charting requirements, continued stay criteria and medical necessity updates
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information at all time.
• Ability to work independently, productively, and be able to meet project timelines.

Education and Experience:

• High school degree or equivalent education and training, required.

· MFT, LPCC, or LCSW preferred.

• Minimum of two (2) years of utilization review experience required.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
