Utility Operator Job at Chemtrade
Scope of the Position
The position will support the plant operations in the dry side area and support the plant by completing all required chemical operator duties and responsibilities.
Position: Utility Operator
Shift: Monday to Friday – 40 hours – Overtime
Key Responsibilities
- Unloads raw materials and supports operations
- Produces Sodium Nitrite and other products according to Chemtrade Standards and quality procedures
- Performs pre-start safety and operating checks and operate mobile equipment such as skid steer loader, scissor lift, forklift, and Track mobile
- Operates and maintains process equipment critical to operating plant
- Occasionally performs general maintenance and equipment installation
- Completes and maintains safety, quality, and ISO documentation and records
- Performs routine chemical analysis of products as required
- Checks tank levels and ensure that tanks do not overflow during transfers
- Performs plant safety inspections
- Reports issues that may affect safety, efficiency, or product quality
- Maintains plant cleanliness and snow removal of pathways and areas as assigned by management
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Loads sodium nitrate liquid in trucks, railcars, and liquid totes
Working Environment
- Work rotating shift, with occasional needs of working overtime
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be a Qualified Shift Operator.
- Experience operating a skid steer loader, scissor lift, forklift, Track mobile or other heavy equipment a plus
- Must be able to perform general chemical analysis skills – including bench tests, hydrometer use, titration analysis
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills and computer knowledge
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision, is highly motivated, energetic, and enjoys working as part of a team
What You Need To Be Successful

Rate of Pay: $26.52
