US - Social Media Manager Job at Virgin Atlantic

Based in the US you'll lead the development of paid and owned social media campaigns relevant to the US audience across both consumer and corporate social media, driving these in a way that moves the needle on our brand preference.
Working hand in hand with the UK-based Social Media Manager and Social Media Executive, you'll have joint responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Virgin Atlantic social media channels and content calendar, spanning Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
Reporting into the Senior Manager, Social Media, the postholder will also be accountable for crafting and managing US social media and influencer strategy that supports our global communications strategy across priority-owned social platforms.
Day to day
- Build social and influencer strategy to ensure all our content inspires, excites and engages our people, customers and key opinion formers.
- Develop social-first campaigns aligned to our communications strategy to run across channels to entice and inspire customers. Build strong cross-functional team relationships, both internally and externally, to plan and execute plans.
- Monitor industry and social platform trends and competitor activity on social media with an eye on news-jacking opportunities
- Build out Influencer, employee advocate and partner portfolio, fueling a social-first content strategy and increasing earned reach
- Build an engaging community & advocacy program, with a focus on US employees, including Airports, Clubhouse and head office
- Work with the wider Communications and Brand team to develop content in support of our brand strategy for external audiences, tailored to each channel to maximise performance
- Support the creation of wide-ranging forms of content, from written and infographic to audio-visual and animation. Partnering with the Multi-Media Manager on high quality, quick turnaround content for social
About you
Alongside the above, we're looking for the following:
- Strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube and other social channels
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, who is intellectually curious with a passion for all things digital.
- Confident copywriter who can craft social media content that drives an increase in engagement and traffic
- Can demonstrate news judgment and the ability to identify and develop news-jacking opportunities
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage a workload in a fast paced, changeable environment where the ability to react is key
- Ability to take ownership of large projects that support commercial needs with clear planning, activation and evaluation, working with internal teams and external partners
- A brand and innovation champion, fostering creativity, collaboration and innovation among team members.
- Analytical with ability turn insight into action and influence development of plans.
- Strong aptitude for measurement & ability to make the case for investment based on ROI
- Proactive, self-starter with the ability to influence upwards, who has a willingness to travel domestically and internationally
