Transportation Supervisor

UP TO A $10,000 SIGN ON BONUS BASED ON ELIGIBILITY

Summary:

In the Transportation Supervisor position, you will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and maintaining efficient transportation services for the company. You will be responsible for directly supervising and managing dispatch of Delivery Drivers domiciled in multiple locations, this includes Lexington Kentucky and Corbin Kentucky, reporting to the company Transportation Director. You will be an essential part of our team that has been servicing customers and delivering fine foods since 1942.

Sign on Bonus Availability:

$10,000 subject to eligibility requirements including but not limited to:

  • Three years or more of Class A CDL driving experience.
  • No major reportable accidents or traffic offenses

$5,000 to:

  • Class A CDL Drivers with less than three years of Class A CDL driving experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with sales team and transportation team members to establish and maintain an excellent customer experience.
  • Work with sales and routing to create and maintain efficient delivery routes.
  • Fill in as a Route Delivery Driver at company facility or remote domiciles when called upon.
  • Monitor Brown Foodservice equipment to ensure maintenance is up-to-date.
  • Work to maintain equipment conditions and documentation to ensure products are transported in accordance company and government guidelines.
  • Monitor Delivery Drivers to ensure that a culture of safety and customer service is always exhibited, including but not limited to Driver work and appearance.
  • Possess or pursue an understanding of controlled substance abuse and alcohol misuse in accordance with DOT regulations (49 CFR part 382.603 (A)).
  • Ensure Driver documentation is in compliance with DOT regulations, such as health cards and driving logs.
  • Use company proprietary and licensed technologies to assist in job duties including routing, DOT compliance, Driver safety, food safety, and other assigned tasks.
  • Attend and participate in quarterly driver safety meetings.
  • Train new Drivers and Trainees, reviewing all policies and procedures that needs to be followed.
  • Provide retraining as needed (on a quarterly basis at minimum) of all tenured Drivers at the company's facility, remote domiciles, and/or during a daily route.
  • Assist in creating new programs and policies which will benefit Drivers and the company as a whole.
  • Work with Drivers and third-party leasing company to resolve any breakdowns that may occur on routes to reduce downtime as much as possible and maintain delivery schedules.
  • Develop an understanding and assist in execution of duties and responsibilities of all transportation personnel.
  • Monitor and manage dispatch procedures.
  • Provide coaching and/or discipline in accordance with company policies and collective bargaining agreement when required for transportation personnel.
  • Conduct accident investigation with Drivers and company equipment involved at company facility and the scene of an incident.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Possess a CDL Class-A License for interstate commerce, with a doubles endorsement.
  • Three (3) years driving experience and/or driving school experience (foodservice delivery experience preferred).
  • Experience directly supervising people, desired but not a requirement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must know, adhere to, and enforce Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and quality standards.
  • Ability to use a computer, smartphone, business software, and new applications/proprietary software.
  • Ability to perform repetitive lifting of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack, electric walkie, and/or forklift.
  • Ability to use a dolly or hand truck in heavy lifting and shifting loads on wet, dry, icy, bumpy, or uneven terrain with frequent curbs and obstructions.
  • Be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish the essential job functions.
