JOB SUMMARY:
The Transportation Manager is directly responsible for the overall success of outbound shipments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee departmental hiring, training, coaching, directing work, problem solving, employee discipline, etc.
Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and government regulations, such as DOT, FMCSA, ELD, OSHA, etc.
Confers with other managers to ensure consistent operational efficiency via other functions such as production goals/setbacks, inventory management, quality assurance, sanitation and preventative maintenance.
Anticipates, troubleshoots and identifies solutions for potential delivery problems.
Conducts some administrative duties, such as reviewing trip reports for accuracy/payroll approval and attendance tracking.
Interprets collective bargaining agreement in all aspects of day-to-day operations, including routine grievance settlement, contract negotiations, potential arbitrations and other Union related needs.
Serve as main point of contact for 3rd party carriers and truck maintenance services.
Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Exceptional organizational, time/management, communication skills.
Ability to operate computerized system.
High school diploma required.
At least 5 years of shipping/ logistics/transportation supervisory experience.
Must have a valid Class A CDL, with an excellent driving record.
Must be available for work some evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.
