Our Interpretive Guides take visitors on exciting tours over 142 miles of Yellowstone's grand loop, with stops at each of the 6 villages and points of interest along the way. Less than 50 Transportation Department guides provide interpretive experiences to more than 65,000 visitors during the summer season in Yellowstone National Park. The Details
- Position Type: Full-time, Seasonal
- Season Dates: April 2023 - November 2023. Actual season will vary depending on the position and location.
- Location: You will be assigned to work at one of our six properties across Yellowstone National Park.
- Schedule: ~40+ hours - May include weekends, evenings and holidays
- Low cost dormitory-style housing in our nation's first National Park! Wi-Fi (limited bandwidth), laundry, and all utilities included ($45.74 + tax per two-week pay period).
- Employees based inside Yellowstone National Park will have all meals provided at low cost including breakfast, lunch, and dinner ($170.81 + tax per two-week pay period).

There are a number of different specific positions under the umbrella of Transportation and Interpretive Guides. You will be considered for the following positions, based on skill level and business needs:
Bus Driver/Guide CDL - $24/hour
- Drive the bus and host excursions for Yellowstone guests; safely navigating Yellowstone roads while offering interpretive information to participants.
- This position requires the ability to operate a manual-shift, commercial passenger tour bus on various road conditions while providing knowledgeable, interpretive commentary of Park features and history.
- This position requires a CDL, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a DOT physical.
Touring Car Driver/ Guide Non-CDL - $15 - $17/hour
- Drive assigned vehicles and host excursions for Yellowstone guests; safely navigating Yellowstone roads while offering interpretive information to participants.
- This position requires the ability to operate a variety of passenger tour vehicles on various road conditions while providing knowledgeable, interpretive commentary of Park features and history.
Photo Guide - $16.75 - $18.75/hour
- Must provide own camera equipment.
- Drive assigned vehicles and host photo excursions for guests of all photography levels from those carrying smartphones/tablets to those who are experienced photographers.
- Help guests learn about camera settings and composure.
- This position requires the ability to operate a variety of passenger tour vehicles on various road conditions while providing knowledgeable, interpretive commentary of Park features and history.
- Scheduling and training of Transportation employees.
- Communication with National Park Service.
- Reporting, budgeting, and coordinating maintenance of various vehicles.
Transportation Administrative Assistant - $16/hour
- Responsible for ensuring that vehicle and driver's logs are correct and kept up to date, fuel logs and supplies are in order, plus timekeeping for staff and other administrative/office duties.
Bus Washer - $15.25/hour
- Primarily responsible for cleaning the exterior and interior of our vehicle fleet, ranging from automobiles to full-size motorcoaches.
- Responsible for shuttling our Tour Guides to the various Park Entrance Gates to meet their tours.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record. If you'd like a position with lots of variety, plus the opportunity to work outside and see much of the Park, this may be the job for you.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must meet all DOT physical requirements and pass a DOT physical exam.
- Some positions require that you have a Class B, Type 1, Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with air brake and passenger endorsements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work long hours (up to 10 hours of driving with 15 hours total daily work).
- Able to walk up to a mile several times per day at high elevations (up to 10,500 feet above sea level).
- Able to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly.
- Able to work outdoors in variable weather (including rain, sleet, snow, direct sunlight, high winds, and temperatures ranging from 0 degrees - 100 degrees Fahrenheit).
