Spanish Speaking Translator/Interpreter

We are currently seeking part time Spanish speaking interpreters and translators, who are responsible for co-visiting in homes or community settings, with assigned staff to assist with translation during early intervention sessions. They will also provide the translation of documents such as Individual Family Service Plans and evaluation reports.

The main object of the translator and interpreter is to act as a liaison between families and providers in order to achieve the most successful outcomes when the family and service provider speak different languages.

We have positions available in New Haven, New London and Hartford Counties

Primary Responsibilities:

• Build rapport and communicate effectively with clients and caregivers, including in regards to scheduling.
• Facilitate communication between clients and therapists as well as between clients and the agency.
• Maintain confidentiality of all clients
• Maintains cultural sensitivity across diverse clientele
• Accurately translate written materials as needed
• Participates in and interprets during appropriate sessions as requested. Sessions may include direct services, IFSP or treatment plan meetings, team meetings, transition meetings, etc.
• Communicates needs in regards to professional development, policies/procedures or general questions about their role with their team supervisor

All Candidates Must Maintain:

• A valid driver’s license
• A current auto insurance policy
• Minimum Education:
• Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish
