POSITION SUMMARY

This position will assist with the employee learning and development program across the company as it relates to the development of training tools, facilitation of training, course administration, and support of the company learning management system (LMS). The Training Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Training Manager, fostering team work amongst business unit trainers and subject matter experts (SME). The successful candidate will work closely with all company business units to understand training needs and assist with developing targeted training solutions.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Associate or Certified Professional Talent Development (APTD or CPTD) from the ATD Certification Institute preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of adult Learning and Development experience required
  • Three to five years relevant operations and/or maintenance experience preferred
  • Three years corporate training experience preferred
  • Background in refining, oil/gas and/or fertilizer manufacturing, preferred
  • Experience administering a Learning Management System (LMS) required
  • Experience developing courses with Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or Articulate Rise, required
  • 2+ years experience developing classroom, virtual, and blended learning solutions for a satisfying user experience during training
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability using the ADDIE methodology of instructional design, or another instructional design system, to develop learning solutions
  • Experience in to applying adult learning theories to training development
  • Ability to listen, comprehend, analyze problems, apply critical thinking skills and develop sustainable solution workflows to solve the problem
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written and oral communication skills with ability to work with broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to be detailed and organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and meet deadlines
  • Display talent development capabilities regarding: agility, global perspective and mindset, influence, collaboration, integrity, and responsibility and accountability
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft suite of tools, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business demands, travel as needed
  • Fluent in English, oral and written, required

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Creates, uploads, and administers course content as assigned. May also develop the training programs with support from subject matter experts (SME), as assigned.
  • Provides support for logistics, course development and design, delivery, and evaluation
  • Assists with the learning development to drive training initiatives. Identifies and arranges suitable training solutions. May create tools for testing and training evaluation.
  • Develops multimedia visual aids, presentations, and web content using principles of adult learning and instructional design. May create written knowledge tests for course completions with input from subject matter experts or training developers.
  • Stays current with latest learning theories, instructional design approaches and technologies
  • Partners with business units to ensure LMS is operating efficiently and is meeting business needs
  • Responsible for the everyday LMS logistical requirements and on the related standards, procedures and processes, including managing, registration and rosters of activity
  • Assists with development of and updating reports, metrics and prepares and develops training audits for the management team as assigned
  • Evaluates business requirements related to use and configuration of the LMS application (Frontline)
  • Monitor data entry, conduct training and coordinate/facilitate training on the LMS application
  • Assist with implementation of standardized training processes and methods

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • Assist with development and maintaining employee core competency matrix across the business units
  • Provide training tools and solutions to maintain core competencies across the workforce
  • Maintain conformance requirements of the training standard and provide guidance, as needed
  • Develop a sustainable Learning From Experiences (LFE) program for business partners
  • Provide support of the LMS database (Frontline)
  • Optimize functionality of the LMS as needed; including resolving issues and building additional functionality
  • Maintain training performance metrics
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
