TPWD MISSION

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Regional Administrative Specialist, this position performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) clerical work including answering the telephone, processing mail, typing correspondence, performing data entry, filing, updating budget reports, performing basic accounting entry and reconciliation, and receptionist duties for a Regional Office. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
NOTE: Temporary position contingent upon funding with fluctuating full-time/part-time hours based on operational needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Completion of 8th grade.
Experience:
No experience required.
Licensure:
If driving is required, applicant must possess a valid State driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of general office procedures;
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures;
Knowledge of basic mathematics;
Knowledge of telephone procedures and proper etiquette;
Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
Skill in effective verbal and written communication;
Skill in basic accounting and reconciliation
Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner;
Skill in establishing interaction with staff at all levels of the department and other State agencies and organizations;
Skill in meeting deadlines;
Skill in compiling and researching information;
Skill in making independent, sound and timely decisions;
Ability to maintain detailed records, files and reports;
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision;
Ability to work as a member of a team;
Ability to work with diverse constituencies and populations;
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be at least 16 years of age;
Position contingent upon funding;
Required to work 10 to 40 hours per week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays;
This position will fluctuate between part-time and full-time status throughout the term of employment. Changing from part-time to full-time and vice versa may impact the amount of leave accrued, eligibility for longevity pay, and health insurance rates;
Required to adjust to changing schedules;
Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions;
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures;
Non smoking work environment in State buildings and vehicles.
