Youth Homes is looking for a part-time Retail Sales Representative to join our family to ensure best in-class experiences for our customers who shop at our Thrift Store to support our Youth Homes Mission. General Position Summary:
Under supervision of the Community Outreach and Engagement Director, the Retail Sales Representative will open or close the store, greet customers enthusiastically, determine their needs, recommend products based on those needs, and will be responsible to bag or package purchases. This position will explain the benefits and answer questions related to the merchandise, and must have an excellent working knowledge of current promotions and sales, payment and exchange policies, and security practices. The Retail Sales Representative will process payments, open or close cash registers, including counting the till, charge slips, and exchange vouchers. This position will monitor the daily cash intake and credit payments, and follow procedures for correct handling of cash deposits and reconciliation of daily sales.

- Greets and interacts with customers.
- Provides excellent customer service.
- Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
- Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customer’s needs.
- Answers customer’s questions about merchandise.
- Assists customers with purchase decisions.
- Collects payment using the store point of sale system.
- Processes returns and exchanges.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous retail experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Must pass all mandated security clearances, prior to employment.
- Must pass a health and drug screening, prior to employment.
- Must meet all training and agency compliance requirements for this position.
- Must be available to work weekends

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
