This position is funded by State Compensatory Education funds. The At-Risk Engagement Specialist supports student engagement for students who are at-risk or educationally disadvantaged through regular student conferences/meetings, parent contact, and coaching to address both academic and social-emotional needs. The position will have an assigned caseload of students with the purpose of removing barriers to academic success in order to reduce the disparity in academic performance on the state assessment instrument administered under Subchapter B, Chapter 39 TEC and to reduce the disparity in the rates of high school completion between students at risk of dropping out of school and all other LEA students.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
- Oversees a caseload of students assigned to as the primary point of contact with the school
- Monitors student participation and works to contact students who do not attend
- Arranges support conferences as needed to address performance concerns;
- Provides a reactive response to students who reach out for support;
- Serves as a liaison between the student, Learning Coach and teachers to ensure that all school personnel understand how to contact and communicate with the student in a manner that builds ties between the student and the school;
- Provides outreach, training, and support to families
- Provides individualized attention and support to students and Learning Coaches identified for training gaps or requested networking within the school community;
- Serves as a point of contact for all non-instructional issues after placement, ensuring students have all necessary equipment and know both how and when to access their courses;
- Initiates meaningful contact by phone with students and their Learning Coach;
- Serves as a liaison between students and/or Learning Coaches and teachers and/or administration;
- Identifies school programs, resources, assistance to help each family make the most of what the schools have to offer;
- Increases professional knowledge and skills by attending required staff meetings; participating in school and K12 sponsored Professional Development and seeking other professional learning opportunities.
- Provides engagement support for At-Risk and Economically/Educationally Disadvantaged students as they transition to Virtual Learning. This support may include:
- Monitor students that are falling severely behind due to lack of engagement
- Hold study halls for students
- Assist interventionists contact families
- At-Risk Engagement Support addresses the specific barriers to Virtual Education encountered by families of At-Risk and Educationally Disadvantaged students, including:
- Computer Literacy
- Internet and Online Platform Usage
- Remote Learning Communication Skills
- Remote Learning Classroom Skills
- Assists in managing and reporting participation and performance data of At-Risk Elementary students in STAAR prep platforms
- Assist in management, support, and outreach of At-Risk Elementary students in online platforms designed to increase performance on the STAAR/STAAR EOC assessment (s) (ie: FEV Tutor, Education Galaxy, Let’s Go Learn)
This position may perform other duties as assigned in alignment with the SCE program. This position may not perform:
- Duties related to testing, such as test administration
- Perform legislatively mandated duties or activities that are specifically allocated to a regular education position, such as
- Activities or duties that would supplement anything other than the regular education program, such as parent/family liaison
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of college AND
- Two (2) years of experience in education OR
- Equivalent combination of education and related experience
Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate licensure if required by state.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent problem-solving skills;
- Organizations skills, multi-tasking abilities;
- Customer service focus;
- Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced work environment;
- Experience coordinating academically-oriented clubs and extra-curricular activities;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Web proficiency;
- Familiarity with the online learning experience;
- Ability to travel 25% of the time;
- Ability to pass required background check.
DESIRED Qualifications:
- Experience working with the proposed age group;
- Experience supporting adults and children in learning and the use of technology;
- An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g. database and web-based tools);

- This position is virtual and strongly prefer residents of Texas. May consider residents of surrounding states.
Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
We anticipate the salary range to be $25, 561.00 to $60, 618.31. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
