Test & Validation Engineer Job at MAHLE
SUMMARY
The Test & Validation Engineer’s primary focus will be engineering support of the laboratory test equipment, tracking of test equipment utilization/efficiency, and implementation of procedures/programs related to test data assurance required to test and qualify automotive A/C system compressors to meet customer test specifications and MAHLE internal development test requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration of a test request system including training of new engineers/technicians in the usage of submission for validation test requests.

Execution of a test bench data assurance program for the validation/certification of a compressor test bench before/after scheduled instrument calibration.

Understand and develop software program test schedules on various test bench equipment throughout the MAHLE test facility.

Establish & develop test procedures, new test equipment acceptance criteria and test data assurance programs.

Interact with compressor engineering teams to understand customer test requirements to facilitate the modifications/design of test equipment to meet the required test specifications.

Write test and calibration procedures for new or modified test equipment.

Ability to diagnose and resolve test equipment performance issues as well as assisting in the implementation of the remediation of the problem.

Participate in test technician training of test equipment operation, maintenance and troubleshooting diagnostics.

Manage, lead and efficient execution of all engineering projects and assigned tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
-
3 to 5 years of engineering experience with automated test systems.
-
Project management experience.
-
Ability to work in a hands-on, team environment.
-
MSOffice applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
-
Mechanical/electrical systems for automated control of actuators, pneumatic/hydraulic/refrigeration valves, electric motors, fans, heating elements, air/fluid pumps and humidification systems.

Wide scope of instrumentation devices including pressure/force/velocity transducers, temperature measurement TC/RTD, mass flow sensors, accelerometers, speed sensors, frequency, current/voltage, humidity, and torque.

General laboratory electronic instruments such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calibration standards.

National Instruments/LabVIEW hardware/software experience preferred.

Machining and fabrication experience preferred.

Basic CAD and mechanical/electrical drawing proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:

Refrigeration and thermodynamics principles.

Automation and controls knowledge.

Product test laboratory experience.
