Teller - Travel Team Job at Heritage Southeast Bank
This position will be based in St. Mary's, but must be able to travel to Ludowici, Statesboro, Jesup, Pembroke and Savannah as needed.
Provides services to customers in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while maintaining the confidentiality of the bank’s records and customer transactions. Learns about our sales and service delivery options and refers the appropriate products and services matching the clients’ needs based upon the client conversation. Also responsible for processing regular transactions, such as paying and receiving money and keeping records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions in an efficient, friendly, and accurate manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of written and numerical amounts, signatures, identity of person who is to receive payment, and sufficient funds in the account.
Processes all types of deposits and payments. Enters customer transactions into computer for record and verifies account is sufficient with no warnings. Issues computer-generated receipts.
Follows all security procedures as set forth by policy. Observes cash drawer and check cashing limits.
Follows procedural guidelines in processing the sale of negotiable items such as official checks. Redeems Savings Bonds.
Balances daily work and cash drawer while preparing required forms in accordance with standard procedures while using teller and branch capture systems.
Understands and adheres to the Teller Performance Standards.
Attends and participates in employee/branch meetings.
Follows all regulatory banking laws while completing required training courses and documentation. Regulations include, but are not limited to, BSA, CRA, CIP, OFAC, GLBA, Reg. CC, Reg. GG, Information Security, etc.
Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of all compliance regulations pertinent to assigned duties by successful completion of any courses assigned in a timely manner.
Learns how to identify sales opportunities. Explains, promotes, and provides information on products/services that meet customer needs. Understands sales goals and incentive program and works toward achieving sales goals set for position.
Completes all sales and referral activity documentation to provide a record for performance tracking and assist in targeting future sales efforts.
Demonstrates a positive and helpful behavior toward customers and teammates throughout the bank.
Responsible for adherence to Heritage Southeast Bank’s Code of Conduct and Ethics, as well as observing and promoting compliance with the Code among teammates, customers and vendors.
Assumes responsibility for mistakes. Demonstrates consistency between what is said and what is done. Behaves according to sound ethical and legal standards.
Learns to predict customer patterns in order to be prepared for cash flow.
In preparation for transition to Universal Banker, will be required to attend classes and take on additional customer service responsibilities.
May be required to cover multiple branches within a geographic area if hired as a member of the Travel Team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not supervise other employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
This is an entry level, learning position.
Minimum Education: High School diploma
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
Prior teller or commercial cash handling experience and general customer service experience required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to create spreadsheets in Excel. Ability to create and edit Word documents. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook. Ability to navigate the Internet. 10-key calculator expertise. Ability to operate Platform and Teller systems with various software.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
