Tech Design Manager - Origin USA, NC Based
Develop and manage the technical specification packages for Origin apparel prototypes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities based in Asheboro, NC location
- Lead development for Origin apparel products from design concept to garment production
- Manage co workers in the roles of pattern making, sample making and fit models
- Work in conjunction with consultant(s) developing the best products and making the best decisions for the Brand
- Contribute ideas for construction, materials and components to enhance functionality, aesthetic, fit and margin targets
- Own, build and review technical packages for all Origin apparel product
- Schedule, conduct and manage fit sessions on live models and forms, including size sets
- Able to identify fit issues, perform fit adjustments and communicate changes to improve fit and function
- Assist with establishing 2D/3D pattern blocks and provide oversight to pattern block library management.
- Recommend changes to grading to achieve best fit across size range
- Analyze samples to identify discrepancies prior to fitting. Ensure samples reflect established category standards for fit, construction and quality
- Analyze artwork to identify risk, assist with establishing standards, identify quality issues and approve strike offs
- Own cross functional meeting communication for the development team including pattern making, sample making, design, materials, manufacturing and product lead.
- Must be able to effectively problem solve design, costing and quality
- Independently communicates with 3rd party vendors to problem solve all issues related to garment engineering
- Review daily and seasonal tracking of prototype samples. Provides cross functional teams with accurate tracking data. Problem-solve complex issues as necessary and makes recommendations to manager
- Ability to dynamically deliver product presentations related to fit and construction
- Domestic travel as necessary to 3rd party vendors, Origin HQ, etc.
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- 2D PDS required. Must have on the job experience using software (classes and/or theory does not qualify)
- Experience fitting on live models and virtual models, including size sets
- Advanced knowledge of garment construction
- Expertise building Development Tech Packs
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, a PLM system, Excel and Gerber or Optitex PDS
- Must have superior communication skills
- Must be able to lead product presentations in a clear, concise, engaging manner
Education And / Or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year Fashion Design program
- {Minimum of 4 years} of technical design or product development experience
Other Requirements
- Factory experience preferred
- 3D Pattern Experience Preferred
- Some leadership experience preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
