TEACHING PROFESSOR Job at University of Wisconsin–Madison
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks applications from individuals who will develop, teach and support curriculum that significantly extends or enhances educational opportunities for students in the department. We are particularly interested in applicants who:
i) Have strong interest in teaching topics that that include mechatronics, computational engineering, senior design, introduction to mechanical engineering, mechanics of materials, design of machine elements, and other core mechanical engineering classes.
ii) Have a commitment to excellence, distinction and innovation in teaching, advancement of pedagogical methods, and a strong motivation to improve the department's educational programs and engage students in experiential learning.
iii) Can instruct one or more core mechanical engineering classes at the undergraduate level, offer elective classes at the senior/graduate level and assist with instructional support of labs and senior design projects, particularly within the area of mechatronics. Educational offerings should involve significant experiential activities that require students to bring together different aspects of the curriculum. The specific courses taught will depend on expertise, interest and department needs.
iv) Engage in activities that advance boundaries of engineering education and are disseminated in conference and/or peer-reviewed papers related to engineering education.
v) Have the potential to engage industry and other external collaborators in an educational context.
