TAP into Phillipsburg Part-Time and Freelance Sports Reporters Job at TAPinto.net
Job purpose
TAPinto Phillipsburg is in search of a qualified, part-time or freelance sports reporter with experience to cover local sports stories in person. We are looking for someone to go beyond the box scores and tell stories about games and the student athletes who participate and represent their schools.
TAPinto Phillipsburg is part of TAPinto.net, an award-winning, community-based group of nearly 100 hyperlocal news and marketing platforms that deliver original and objective reporting to their areas.
Expectations
The ideal candidate would be an enthusiastic, detailed and dynamic sports reporter and writer. The candidate would cover sports in person in Phillipsburg. The journalist must embrace social media, including digital and video components. Successful candidate may also be asked to cover additional sports stories in nearby communities.
Additionally, candidates are expected to:
· Create 1-2 stories weekly that accurately informs, entertains and engages specific audiences and platforms through the use of metrics. Works toward becoming the community’s leading voice in area of expertise.
· Tell a strong story that connects with readers through the articles you produce, as well as through our social media platforms.
· Collaborate with other local editors and reporters to provide town with high quality news stories from surrounding area.
Qualifications
Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this position:
· Previous news or sports reporting experience.
· Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills.
· Self-starter who can take direction and contribute ideas for stories.
· Ability to work independently on projects while meeting deadlines.
· Photography and video skills a plus.
· Knowledge of Phillipsburg community preferred.
Compensation
$50 – 75 per story.
