Description

This position is within the Engine & Power Systems department of Cat Electronics and will be responsible for the system integration and development of embedded software and electronics systems for diesel engine, battery electric, and fuel cell applications. The role of engineering specialist is that of a principal contributor of deliverables associated with complex technical engineering problems. In addition to demonstrating technical expertise, the person in this position will be required to serve as a team/project leader, supporting and executing division wide system application solutions This position will require substantial collaboration with clients, the application team and ICS partners globally for the development of systems & software for the energy systems application team. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate from prior experience the ability to communicate, build consensus, and achieve compromise in setting technical direction for projects/programs with challenging timelines and a high degree of uncertainty. The impact of decisions will be far-reaching and significantly impact product quality, cost, and customer value. As a result, the successful candidate will be required to periodically provide formal and informal updates to leaders within the organization.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Translate customer requirements, drive commonality, and provide solutions that are applicable across many different applications supporting both LPSD, IPSD engine and E&APSD clients
  • Evaluate new requirements and their impact, develop solutions, and plans that support program timing
  • Lead collaboration across Machine System Coordinators, Tech Strategists, Engine System Coordinators, Application Leads, ICS process partners, and our clients
  • Perform technical requirements analysis and manage change request (CRM’s) that may impact multiple applications
  • Lead division wide projects (some examples may include system solutions, quality, and process improvements)
  • Own specific system knowledge, application information, and track strategies across applications
  • Be a liaison to other teams like Security, ET, Displays, Command, Datalink, Telematics, Regulatory groups to align strategies and implementation with the application team

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • 8+ years of embedded software development experience in machine or engine systems
  • Ability to work in a team environment, communicating technical information and development progress to team members, process partners and leadership
  • Demonstrated strong skill in analysis, communication, organizational and time management

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Matlab/Simulink experience
  • Experience with the following tools: Git, Clearcase, Trace 32 Debugger
  • Experience with C language programming and/or python
  • Practical experience with machine and/or engine systems, displays, datalinks
  • Practical experience with CAN/SAE J1939, CANalyzer, Cat ET Service Tool

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.
