POSITION: Suuk Sarak Site Manager

PAY RANGE: Pay Band 5; $42,000-$46,000 salary; full-time

JOB DESCRIPTION: Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates activities provided for youth within specific program areas, such as Education/Academic Enhancement, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Healthy Lifestyles, Leadership, Outdoor/Environmental Awareness, and Physical Education. The Site Manager reports to the Catawba Nation Child Care Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Plan Youth for Success

  • Plan and oversee the administration of designated Club programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:
  • Establish Club program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
  • Oversee the provision of day – to – day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
  • Ensure that members, especially tweens and teens, are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
  • Demonstrate leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety and development of members.
  • Demonstrate a ability to work with other Catawba Nation Departments to partner with to develop leadership skills, networking, culture, Job Training for Club Member future.
  • Management of the daily operations of Teen/Youth facility (age 10-18) with multiple programs
  • Implements approved youth curriculum by providing and maintaining quality educational programs
  • Develop open lines of communication with staff, parents, and Youth/Teen – and conduct one-on-one meetings with parents to discuss each Teen/Youth’s progress
  • Practice effective counseling and advising of students and parents while fostering a safe learning environment
  • Emphasize achievement and quality programming to create an environment that nurtures and promotes Youth/Teen’s development and well-being
  • Maintain licensing requirements at SC State standards and ensure facility is prepared for inspection at any time
  • Oversee financial aspects of the facility including tracking purchasing, payroll, and payables for the site
  • Ensure environment maintains safety standards and meets high-quality standards
  • Participate in marketing events, campaigns, and community relations
  • Creates and implements yearly operating budget and demonstrates an understand of the process
  • Continually seeks ways to manage and reduce expenses without sacrificing quality or service; balances funding with priorities related to staff and our Maintain a safe, clean, attractive school, and classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Program Development and Implementation

  • Establish and maintain Club program goals and settings to ensure the health and safety of members. Ensure that site staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program; that they ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that Club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
  • Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis, including tracking outcome metrics; verify that programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
  • Control Club program and activity expenditures within approved budget.

Supervision

  • Allocate and monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff.
  • Oversee proper record keeping and reporting, including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements, and any problems/issues
  • Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers.
  • Plan and assign trainings for staff
  • Keep track with staff records and keep staff in compliance with child care standards with trainings and requirements for Child Care.
  • Able to communicate with Child Care Director with planning, outreach, performance, culture, volunteers, club programs, daily schedule.

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers and media releases.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Maintain BGC Facebook page, Instagram and website. Updating Social media with activities and news from the Teen Center

Additional Responsibilities

  • May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary.
  • May be required to drive Club bus/van periodically.
  • May consult with parents concerning member and branch issues.
  • May handle petty cash for activities or fundraisers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associates degree or higher preferred in Education or Recreational programs.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in planning and implementing youth programs
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Possess a clean, valid state Driver’s License and be insurable under the Tribe’s insurance policy

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience working with grants
  • Experience with creating reports
  • Experience working with a Board or other oversight body
  • DOT, CDL for driving Club vehicles.
  • Experience with fundraising

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; bend so as to open/use lower drawers or cabinetry; to talk, hear, and see. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
