Survey Party Chief (SPC) – Roadway and Highway

Daily report to Vero Beach, Florida – Construction Office

We are looking for a Surveyor to use their organizational skills, strong analytical thinking and attention to detail to complete various field assignments. The ideal candidate has a background in surveying and mapping, and has a real passion for achieving deadlines. We're looking for an individual who can work independently, but who isn't afraid to ask for help when needed. The Surveyor will also be responsible for regularly updating databases and generating reports.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Solely responsible for daily field road surveying by making exact and precise measurements, lay out and as builts. Responsible for providing relevant field data to shape, contour, locate, and construct the design. The SPC is responsible for using global positioning systems (GPS) and/or Robotic Total Station to layout and As Built Roadway and Highway construction. Construction Layout Master: Train, mentor and guide the career path of Junior Survey personnel and field construction employee

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The SPC directly reports to the Survey Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

A. EDUCATION

Minimum of a high school diploma and previous Construction Road Survey experience

B. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

SPC is Responsible to use and apply best Survey Construction industry practices to lay out road construction projects with common sense. Knowledge and experience with Trimble field equipment and software. Previous experience with SCS900 software, SPS730, SOS930, SPS720, and TSC7. Minimum of 1 – 5 years field experience with roadway construction and field improvements. Ability to apply good mathematical skills to solve field Survey problems and verify office calculations

C. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Layout Road construction projects

2. Assist the field supervision in day-to-day field construction layout

3. Responsible to maintain multiple jobs with daily workload

D. SAFETY AND QUALITY

1. Understand and follow the Company Employee Practices

2. Ensure roadway design layout standards are met

3. Have and Maintain a clean driving record and valid driving license

E. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

SPC duties are Field environment, this is not an office job. Ability to work overtime as required and ability to drive extensively as required to multiple jobsites on the weekly basis.

F. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The essential functions of this position include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting a minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low-level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing, and talking

1. Work areas from Daytona Beach, FL to West Palm Beach, FL – Company vehicle provided

2. Reporting on work on time and be communicative. Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence

3. Maintaining the work vehicle in a neat and orderly manner

4. Performing all duties on time as per schedule

5. Performing other field duties as may be required by Survey Manager

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
