Position Title: Summit Facilitator
Summary
The Summit Facilitator, in collaboration with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Minority Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE), will create and convene a 2-day virtual summit/forum for approximately 25-75 Chief Health Equity Officers and other related positions representing health systems including hospitals, to engage in open discussion related to issues of racism and discrimination in the delivery of health care, policies that unintentionally perpetuate racism and other inequities in health care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The VMG Summit Facilitator will:
(1) Integrate findings from peer-reviewed literature on racism and discrimination in US health care systems.
(2) Leverage plans, experiences, and strategies implemented to address health inequities—including those implementing anti-racist policies and practices.
(3) Identify strategic partnerships that, in conjunction with health systems, can improve population health and eliminate structural racism in health care.
VMG’s summit facilitators will orchestrate dialogue to occur in an organized, orderly manner that aligns with the defined objectives for each session. Facilitators will support the meeting by executing the following:
- Participate in conference calls / virtual meetings with project leads to develop draft and final agenda for 2-day summit.
- Program in approaches and methods to characterize experiences, needs, and strategies for leadership present among those participating in the summit.
- Capture questions, discussions, next steps, bike-rack/parking lot issues emerging from discussion sessions.
- Document “sense of meeting” notes (not verbatim but must concretely and accurately represent discussions and potentially link thoughts to specific participants).
Education and/or Experience
- Master’s Public Health, Doctorate preferred in a field related to the public health, allied health sciences, or social sciences.
- Knowledge of/be knowledgeable of health care systems and health equity, knowledgeable of minority and underserved communities and impacts of inequities.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing or similar approaches that allow the facilitator to be able to clarify, interpret and summarize discussions to ensure accurate and complete caption of concepts.
- Strong leadership capabilities in the area Health Equity, Diversity, Accessibility, and Inclusion.
- CDC experience preferred, but not required.
Salary commensurate with experience.
