Summer Enrichment Instructor - Virtual Professional Development Course Teacher (Child Adolescent Family Health Bureau) Job at Boston Public Health Commission

The Boston Public Health Commission's Child Adolescent Family Health (CAFH) Bureau addresses physical and mental health needs of Boston children, youth, and families, particularly those whose health is compromised by social inequality. Nearly 200 students will take part in the CAFH's Summer Youth Enrichment Program. During this six-week summer program, students take math and science classes as well as participate in various workshops and electives to gain leadership/facilitation skills & increase Public Health knowledge.


Electives are designed to foster stress management techniques and enhance coping strategies through various modes of expression. Many students are also exposed to new and exciting activities that can easily be incorporated in their everyday lives.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a virtual curriculum that introduces high school students to the skills and tools necessary for professional development and life after high school graduation
    • Topics should include (but are not limited to): time management, study skills, emotional intelligence, networking, self-advocacy, personal branding, etc.
  • Develop course work that considers multiple learning styles, engagement, and virtual activities
  • Maintain regular communication with the Program Coordinator regarding student progress.
  • Complete formative and summative assessments to track student progress in the program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicable health professions degree or health professions degree in progress
  • Teaching experience: in person and/or virtually
  • Experience working effectively with students and staff of various cultures and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingual/multicultural skills preferred, but not necessary.
  • Creativity and ability to foster curiosity.
  • Ability to facilitate a professional and interactive atmosphere.
