What We Believe

Our Statement of Philosophy

Through the educational process, we assist students in gaining self-esteem, self-

end in itself. We also believe that education is a joint venture among students, parents
and teachers. To be effective with young people, teachers and parents must themselves
continue to learn, so that they may perceive the young accurately and treat them wisely.

We believe that the arts are an essential part of the curriculum and that it is important for
students to express themselves creatively and to use their imaginations freely. Therefore,
music, drama, visual arts, film, writing and dance are significant parts of student life at
Crossroads.

We understand that there are many kinds of intelligence, and the traditional academic,
cognitive area is one. Other important areas of intelligence are intuition, imagination,

Job Description
Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences is a place where the members of our diverse

Position Overview
We are currently accepting applications for K-5 substitute teachers in general education
and in specialty subjects (art, music, dance, drama, science, physical education, Spanish,
and technology).

Essential Job Functions

Applicants should be responsible, well organized, flexible and able to substitute on
campus as NEEDED on the day of or night before the assignment.
Applicants should have a mobile device and be confident in the use of the device for
email and text communications.
Comfortable in all aspects of classroom management
Be able to follow and implement lesson plans
Write a brief report to the teacher at the end of the day’s assignment.

Required Experience, Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

B.A. degree and experience teaching elementary school aged children.

Physical Demands

Standing all day, moving about the classroom, outdoor supervision to monitor students,
and sitting during certain periods.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
Ability to climb stairs while supervising students.

COVID-19 vaccinations will be required for employment.
