Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Student Programming Staff Assistant on the Oconee campus. The Student Programming Assistant in the Office of Student Involvement on the Oconee campus is a critical member of the office team and has responsibility for overseeing daily office functions and assist event programming operations. This position will work closely with student organization leaders/advisors and UNG departments regarding UNG Connect, room reservations, event logistics, purchasing, marketing and traveling. This position will oversee the social media accounts, and main email of the Office of Student Involvement. Evening and weekend hours will be required as needed. Position requires occasional night, weekend, and overnight duties. Occasional traveling to other UNG campuses is required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Oconee on-campus marketing to insure quality promotion of campus events, including the weekly publication and distribution of the Toilet Paper and promotion of campus events on social media platforms. Serve as the Office of Student Involvements point of contact for social media and involvement email.
- Consult with Student Organizations regarding budgets, travel, spending policies, and events (booking and logistics). Communicate and work with Purchasing, Business, Travel, Information Technology, and Plant Operations to ensure all university policies are followed.
- Provide event and program support for Nighthawks Entertainment, Weeks of Welcome, Student Government Association, the annual Student Conference on Leadership, and other Office of Student Involvement initiatives.
- Conduct form updates and maintenance on UNG Connect. Approve catering requests, room reservation requests, event promotion requests, popcorn machine requests, and other requests through UNG Connect that are submitted by student organizations.
- Assist the Assistant Director of Student Involvement in the ordering, auditing and distribution of supplies for the office and student organizations.
- Actively participate in regularly scheduled meetings with Oconee Student Affairs; participate and contribute to Division wide and campus initiatives such as New Student Orientation, Open House, and Nighthawk Preview.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to perform office management duties efficiently and accurately.
- Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures and office equipment as well as
- English language usage, spelling, and punctuation.
- Excellent computer skills, including significant experience with Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Familiarity with Canva is a plus.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Problem solving skills and initiative.
- Experience providing quality customer service.
- Enthusiasm for serving students.
- Occasionally lifting up to 20lbs.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Two (2) years of office/administrative experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or some college preferred.
