Sr. Driveline Systems Engineer Job at Dana Incorporated

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead requirements generation, design, and development of new and innovative driveline products/systems from concept to production with emphasis on electrified product portfolio; includes responsibility for delivery of both mechanical and electrical systems (gearbox, mechatronics/actuators, motor, inverter)
- Lead implementation of “end game” view of vehicle level integration that includes all attributes, and customer “why buys” and manage requirements cascade to subsystems and components
- Work with validation and development team to create and implement product validation strategy, including vehicle-level drive evaluations
- Work in partnership with Program Management, and other business units to align and execute product strategy
- Lead generation of system level engineering/quality documentation (Boundary Diagrams, Interface Matrix, DFMEA, DVP&R, Functional Safety, etc.)
- Identify competitive benchmarking needs and work in partnership with benchmarking organization to collect needed data
- Develop initial sourcing and manufacturing strategies in collaboration with Purchasing and Manufacturing organizations
- Follow Program Management and Stage Gate development processes to meet project goals including budget, timing, and quality of deliverables for identified projects
- Document lessons learned and update OneDana procedures as applicable
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or related engineering discipline – Masters degree preferred
- 5 Years experience designing ICE powertrain transmissions and/or electrified drive systems/subsystems
- Strong overall knowledge of ICE powertrain transmissions and/or electrified drive subsystems (motor, inverter, gearbox, park mechanisms, pumps/hydraulics, actuators, controls, etc…)
- Vehicle integration experience and/or ownership of vehicle level attributes and system level requirements
- Attribute experience with performance, efficiency, NVH, durability, cooling/lubrication and/or vehicle packaging
- Strong understanding of vehicle level attributes/target-setting process (vehicle packaging, performance, efficiency, NVH, etc..)
- Strong experience applying Systems Engineering Fundamentals and adherence to process/principals.
- Application of SEF to powertrain/hybrid programs is preferred
- Working level knowledge of vehicle and/or motor control systems including CAN, strategy, software and calibration.
- Awareness of ISO26262 / Functional Safety
- Experience creating/reviewing FMA quality documentation including BD, IM, PD, DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.
- Application experience with team leadership preferred
- Working level knowledge of subsystem/component manufacturing/assembly methods and vehicle assembly.
- Subsystem/component manufacturing/assembly experience and experience with vehicle assembly, product/vehicle launch, and end of line test methods preferred
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of deliverables and lead resolution of issues
- Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is organized and able to accept multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside of Dana in a professional manner
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to successfully function in and lead cross-functional teams
