This position is located in Danvers at the Hogan Regional Center.

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeking applicants for the role of Speech-Language Pathologist II.The Speech-Language Pathologist II (SLP II) position is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals in this field to make a significant difference in the lives of the individuals that are supported by DDS. The SLP II will provide direct and indirect services to address the communication needs of the individuals supported by DDS in the Commonwealth.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates individuals' needs for communication therapy by formal and informal test procedures. Interprets testing results for development of functional therapy, habilitative or rehabilitative programs.
  • Evaluates individuals' swallowing status by performing clinical bedside swallowing evaluation and oral peripheral examination. Interpret results for treatment programs.
  • Plans and conducts treatment by developing, selecting, and utilizing methods and techniques of communication and dysphagia therapy; by participating in support teams and incorporating speech and language and dysphagia services into individual treatment plans; by selecting appropriate remedial equipment and materials; and by consulting with designers and providers of adaptive and augmentative equipment to enable individuals to resolve communication disorders.
  • Maintains documentation on individual services following professional standards and facility/regulation guidelines and mandates.
  • Provides in-service training to professional and non-professional support team members, including families for carryover of role-released services.
  • Procures, maintains inventory of, and distributes materials related to communication disorders (may include ensuring that basic materials and equipment related to dysphagia management are available for individuals' use).
  • Assigns cases to subordinates by overseeing the scheduling of individual services and providing clinical supervision in complex diagnostic and remedial cases.
  • Provides supervision to MA licensed Speech Language Pathologist Assistant.

Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Saturday/Sunday off

Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least one year, after licensure, of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in speech-language pathology/therapy in a recognized public or private agency or organization.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a current and valid Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Massachusetts' Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required.

Licensure and/or Certification Requirements:

  • Possesion of a current and valid Speech Language Pathologist license issued by the Massachusetts' Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
  • Masters Degree in speech and language pathology/communication disorders.
  • Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operator's license may be required.
