Maintain the booking calendar for the Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center. Contract and assist in settlement of all events in Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center. Assist in the coordination of all events, and oversee production of all events. Coordinate security staffing with Event Staff Manager for all events. Coordinate staffing levels and act as liaison between SMG and Hall Ambulance, and the Bakersfield Police Department for all events and activities. Book and coordinate all individual meetings in the Rabobank Theater and Convention Center. Serve as Manager on Duty during events as needed.

Essential Duties:
Maintain the booking calendar for the Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center.
Contract and assist in settlement of all events in Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center.
Assist in the coordination of all events, and oversee production of all events.
Coordinate security staffing with Event Staff Manager for all events.
Coordinate staffing levels and act as liaison between SMG and Hall Ambulance, and the Bakersfield Police Department for all events and activities.
Represent and/or act as the General Manager in the General Manager's absence as the leader of Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center and the Bakersfield Ice Sports Center as directed by the General Manager.
All other duties / responsibilities as assigned.
Extensive knowledge of the entertainment industry and technical procedures of stage production; business administration principles and practices; organizational techniques and time management; employee supervision; computer applications related to work including word processing and spreadsheet programs; and relevant local, federal and state laws and regulations.
Ability to: develop, implement, and manage a year-round events program; analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and implement solutions; implement innovative functions in programming the entertainment events; work under pressure and be self-motivated; make public presentations and communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups including the media.
Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Performing Arts, Theater, Recreation or related field and five years of professional experience in entertainment, marketing or related field including at least two years of supervision; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the job. A Master's Degree is desirable.
Licenses, Certificates and Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License is required.
Physical Conditions or Sprcial Working Conditions:
Standard office environment and working conditions; however, must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions. May be exposed to unpleasant and potentially hazardous conditions such as dirt, noise and other materials. Will include nights, holidays and weekends.
This position reports to the General Manager of Robobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center and the Bakersfield Sports Center. It is distinguished from the latter in that the General Manager has administrative reponsibility for the entire complex, while the Special Events Manager manages the develoment of events at the complex in coordination with the Managers from Marketing, Operations and Finance. The incumbent will promote and provide entertainment year-round at Rabobank Arena, Theater and Convention Center.

1-4 years of service: 10 days per year.
5-13 years of service: 15 days per year.
14+ years of service: 20 days per year.
VACATION - FIRE SAFETY SHIFT PERSONNEL ONLY:
1-4 years of service: 4.68 (24-hr. duty shifts)
5-15 years of service: 7.02 (24-hr. duty shifts)
16+ years of service: 9.36 (24-hr. duty shifts)
HOLIDAYS: 13 paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE: Earned at the rate of one working day per month of service to a maximum of 120 days; portions therafter may be convertible.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE: 10 days per year for General Supervisory and Management employees.
