Come be a part of our award-winning, nationally accredited Parks and Recreation team! There are a variety of opportunities at Springfield-Greene County Park Board special events. Explore the possibilities below and make your selections within the application.
The Springfield-Greene County Park Board has two major annual events that require extra staff: Harvest Fest and the World TeamTennis Springfield Lasers season.
In addition, the Parks Department has a Special Events division dedicated to planning, organizing and facilitating year-round events. This includes working with local neighborhood groups, and managing the Cruse Dog Park. The Special Events division hires 1-2 Temporary and Seasonal staff members to assist with Dog Park registration and event facilitation.
World TeamTennis Springfield Lasers season runs from July-August.
The Cooper Tennis Complex staff will begin to review applications and offer interviews starting in April. Assignment opportunities include:
- Parking Lead: Direct cars at the entrance and supervise all parking staff. Must be 16 or older.
- VIP/GA Parking: Direct cars into parking spaces. Monitor the parking lot and stadium during the match.
- Ticket Booth: Assist supervisor with ticket sales in the ticket booth.
- Greeter/Gate Staff: Take and scan tickets, greet guests, and pass out giveaways.
- Usher: Greet and direct people to their seats. Provide guest support such as directions to restrooms, concessions, etc. Help supervisory staff with various tasks as needed.
- Merchandise Staff: Sell, inventory and manage Lasers merchandise. Handle money and work with a point-of-sale system. Must be over the age of 16.
- VIP Room Staff: Help Event staff with set up, operations and take down of VIP Room. Staff will greet VIP's for dinner, take food vouchers, keep the tables and meeting room clean. Must be over the age of 16.
- Scoring Staff: Tennis knowledge required. Must be able to keep score during the match on either the digital or manual scoreboard. Must be over the age of 16.
- On-Court Staff: Helps supervisory staff during match to make sure the court is always filled with the supplies needed. Must be over the age of 16.
Harvest Fest runs from September-October.
The Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park staff will begin to review applications and offer interviews starting in June. Assignment opportunities include:
- Parking Attendant: Directing traffic in parking areas. Assist with safety issues, as needed.
- Ticket Taker: Accept tickets for various activities and games. Facilitate carnival games and monitor inflatable play. Help load and unload guests from various rides. Control lines and provide customer services as needed.
- Cashiers: Run point-of-sale system throughout the Farm Park during Harvest Fest. Provide excellent customer service as well as information to guests.
- Custodial: Responsible for cleaning and stocking public restrooms, collecting trash, as well as upkeep of public gathering areas. In addition, will light bon fire for rentals.
- Inflatable Attendant: Accepts tickets. Oversees inflatable play. Monitors the safety of patrons and inflatable equipment.
- Hay Ride/ Cow Train Loader: Accepts tickets. Monitors rides. Assists with loading and unloading riders.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
- Entry level position, no experience is required;
PREFERRED
- Depending on the assignment, some related experience.
Licensing/Certification
- If operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Missouri Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
