Statement of Job:

The University of Maine at Augusta’s Office of the Dean of Students is seeking a Special Assistant to the Dean of Students to join our team. This is a full-time, ongoing appointment that reports to the Dean of Students.


The Special Assistant is responsible for assisting the Dean of Students and Associate Dean of Students with student issues by providing preliminary information on policies and procedures and providing supervision and training to support staff assigned to the Office of the Dean of Students. This position will also design, coordinate, and implement the delivery of special programs and events, e.g., New Student Orientation and awards ceremonies. The Special Assistant will also edit, develop, and update student publications such as the Student Handbook and the Housing guide.

Salary

The hiring salary range for this position is in the low 40s and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of experience in higher education student services
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the Student Development team
  • Computer literacy
  • Demonstrated administrative experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a related field
