Position: Software & Systems Engineer

Reports To: Director of Information Technology
Compensation: Pay Level 4 - $89,900 - $105,700 Annually.
Classification: Full-time, exempt

Job Purpose: Under minimal supervision, the Software & Systems Engineer will work closely with the Director of IT, Tessitura programmer and Marketing Department to implement website goals and objectives while effectively communicating project status, issues, and resolutions to stakeholders. This position will develop and enhance new and creative Intranet solutions and web-based business applications. The Web Administrator will work with outside contractors on web development, programming, designing, troubleshooting, testing, debugging and maintaining all SFB websites and web-based applications. The Web Administrator will ensure total quality management of code for all websites, including consistency, cross-browser compatibility, ease of use, and security access. This position requires availability for after-hours emergency support; some after-hours and/or weekend work is also a required.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
- Design and develop web-based business applications. Design and implement middle-tier business objects and components Develop web application and web-server administration for Intranet sites. Maintain all aspects of multiple API’s.
- Deploy new code base to staging and production environments as needed, enforce best practices regarding back-up procedures and roll-back plans
- Resolves all hosting, hardware, and network–related issues Assist in maintenance and upgrade of Content Management System and other internally developed projects
- Assures uptime and building redundancies around all Ballet websites.
- Assist IT team with daily procedures, help desk and special projects as required.
- Managing & monitoring system performance and ensuring reliability and availability
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, application software
- Anticipating & troubleshooting systems related issues
- Continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies
- Liaising with 3rd party vendors, IT providers, etc. for support where required
- Providing Level 2 and 3 support
- Performs other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
Position Qualifications:
Ability to:
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills and the ability to facilitate discussions with end-users, resolve problems, explain ideas clearly and develop an understanding of the needs of the organization.
- Organize and prioritize tasks and take initiative with minimal supervision.
- Be available for after-hours emergency support; some after-hours and/or weekend work is also a
requirement for this position. - Effectively develop and/or maintaining e-commerce applications, specifically familiarity with OWASP best practices and PCI Compliance requirements
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions
- Experience in PHP, SOAP, REST, XHTML, XML, CSS, Java, JQUERY tools, .NET, IIS/Webserver and content management systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with AJAX, XSL, JavaScript libraries, and SQL.
- Experience working with .NET/ Java web services, DNS, firewalls, and certificates
- 4 to 5 years experience in developing and supporting websites
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science preferred.
- 5 to 7 years of software & systems engineering experience.
- Four years in an enterprise environment preferred
- 1-2 years of Tessitura application development and administration experience a plus.
