Overview: Calspan’s crash testing facilities include a test track, indoor/outdoor full vehicle crash lab, an instrumentation calibration and ATD certification lab, vehicle preparation bays and a new fully enclosed and highly secure full vehicle crash test facility. This new facility has everything needed to prepare and execute a crash test under one roof. Calspan has extensive experience providing passive safety test services for OEMs, first tier suppliers, government agencies, and manufacturers around the world. We supply our customers with the knowledge and equipment needed to perform tests, while also providing a unique customer experience.
Responsibilities: The Software Engineer will provide guidance and direction within Calspan’s Crash Test Operations group.
- Support execution of testing operations in accurate and efficient manner. Design, develop and maintain embedded systems in testing environments as a member of a software team.
- Maintain and document software approaches and solutions.
- Support development of new applications and test procedures. Evaluate new technologies for implementation. Conduct research that tests and analyzes feasibility, design, operation and performance of systems.
- Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation. Integrate embedded software on embedded hardware.
- Provide guidance to technicians in programming, preparation and operations of computer and related equipment and systems.
Qualifications: Preferred Education / Experience:
- Bachelors in Electrical or Computer Engineering/Computer Science or related discipline
- Experience in software development or related discipline or;
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
Preferred Knowledge / Ability:
- Computer Science/Software engineering method
- Software development processes including configuration management
- Strong programming skills
- Develop real time embedded systems and networking
- Read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables
- Microsoft Office
