Software Developer Engineer, Washington, DC

SUMMARY

Cherokee Preting is seeking a Software Development Engineer to support the StoneGhost and International Systems (SGIS) team that manages international systems services for the defense intelligence community. This position provides the full range of IT support to enable information sharing and collaboration for U.S. defense intelligence and foreign partner counterparts. Understanding of the Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community who can produce in a team environment that is focused on design, development, testing, installation/deployment, enhancements, and sustainment is crucial.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

• Support software and web architecture development, requirements analysis, process execution and evaluation, selection, and evaluation of COTS/GOTS tools, and integration (with both new and legacy systems)
• Interacts with customers and development team to gather and define requirements
• Analyze and study customer requirements to determine the most effective software and web technologies to satisfy their needs
• Design, create, test, and maintain software and web-based applications and content solutions to satisfy customer requirements
• Follow a formal design process using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and also adheres to laws, standards, and established guidelines for development and delivery of software and web applications (e.g., software reuse, modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, fault tolerant)
• Coordinate creation and collection of necessary technology components and integrate them into a coherent site design
• Design and develop visually pleasing, content rich, user-friendly interfaces with intuitive navigation
• Develop and maintain software and web development technical documentation to assist with software and web application maintenance and upgrades
• Provide software process management and configuration management throughout the software / web development lifecycle
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must possess one of the following combinations of education and relevant experience:
  • HS/GED and 8 years’ experience
  • AA/AS and 6 years’ experience
  • BA/BS and 4 years’ experience
  • MA/MS and 2 years’ experience
  • PhD and 1 year experience
• Full stack development and integration experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS and SQL, plus application configuration/interface using web services
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification or higher (e.g. Security+, CISSP, etc.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Active Top Secret (TS) with SCI security clearance. Must be willing and able to obtain a CI Polygraph

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong technical writing skills
• Experience with C#, Java, Python, PowerShell, and Bash
• Experience in Node.js/Angular development
• Experience, knowledge, and understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture
• Experience, knowledge, and understanding of the software life cycle (specification, design, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, operation, sustainment)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
