POSITION: Social Emotional Learning Coordinator K-12

In order to provide safe, welcoming, nurturing and inclusive schools for the Wellpinit School District children, staff and community, WSD is seeking a person to support the Social Emotional needs of our students in K-12. The person in this position will assist with reviewing, adapting, and implementing SEL programs to make them more responsive and appropriate for Native American students. This person will also provide direct SEL support to K-12 students.

DUTIES:

· Reviews existing Social and Emotional Learning programs provided to students in the district to make them more responsive and appropriate for tribal students

· Researches and identifies appropriate and culturally informed approaches to SEL for tribal students toward selecting, adapting, or supplementing SEL curriculum.

· Coordinates the implementation of all existing and new SEL programs and participates directly in their implementation

· Collaborates with Parent Engagement Coordinator and NYCP Program Director to ensure parent and community input is utilized in development, implementation, assessment, and revision of SEL programs.

· Provides social emotional intervention support to students in grades K-12, particular Tier II & III.

· Attend staff meetings or training when required or recommended.

· Assists with the supervision of students during building activities, such as assemblies

· Performs other duties to support the school district, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work and/or experience in K-12 school environment.

· Knowledge of Social and Emotional Learning, trauma, and/or the unique educational context for Native learners.

· Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

· Ability to practice ethical, professional, and legal standards of conduct, including the requirements of confidentiality and communicate with colleagues, follow instructions, and use problem solving and other skills that will enable you to work as an effective member of the instructional team.

· Must pass background check and drug test

WAGES/SALARY: $35/hour, 7.5 hours/day, 180 days/year, and potential for summer contracts. Benefits not included with contract work. Position is contingent on grant funding.
