Primary Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), oversee and coordinate delivery of integrated health care and social services at the assigned KPHC Family Medical and Dental Center, in accordance with Kalihi-Palama Health Center's Mission, practice guidelines, and in keeping with KPHC's strategic pillars and values. Actively engage peers and staff to assure adherence to the Health Center Program Compliance Manual. Provide family practice services at the assigned site(s).

The person in this position is a member of the Patient Centered Health Care Home team where each team member plays an integral role in providing patient-centered health care.


Essential Duties:

Administrative (Planning and administration; Staffing and personnel; Quality improvement and assurance; Operational effectiveness; and Educational and research activities) include:

  • Work with the CEO to: plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of quality integrated health and social services based at the assigned site(s).
  • Oversee assigned site(s) operations and provide support to providers in the delivery of integrated health and social services
  • Collaborate with and support the Operations Coordinator and the team leaders to ensure efficient and effective operations
  • Maintain appropriate staffing and address staff issues
  • Develop and maintain a professional, mutually respecting, and productive working relationship with providers and staff
  • Oversee appointment scheduling
  • Quality improvement and assurance activities
  • Monitor service flow and make recommendations for improvement to the CEO
  • Confer with the CEO, and Human Resources regarding material staffing and personnel matters
  • Confer with Medical Director regarding clinical practice guidelines
  • Ensure proper intervention, documentation and reporting of patient concerns
  • Ensure compliance with KPHC policies and procedures
  • Participate actively in the Performance Improvement Committee and champion practice improvement initiatives
  • Prepare required reports and keep the CEO informed about pertinent operations matters
  • Liaise with community agencies as required
  • Serve as advocate for the clientele and staff
  • Work with the CEO to promote the assigned site(s).
  • Work with staff to ensure continuity of service
  • Oversee educational and research activities

Clinical:

  • Actively perform duties of a Medical Provider in Family Medicine as required.


Other Duties:

  • Perform related administrative duties at an organizational level - KPHC wide
  • Perform Medical Director related duties in the absence of the Medical Director as needed.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
  • Identify and report opportunities for KPHC's improvement and growth


Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong community health orientation
  • Supervisory expertise over clinical teams
  • Hawaii license or eligible to attain one
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-lingual and low English proficiency patients
  • Good judgment in decision-making

Education:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited University or College
  • Appropriate Management, Business, Administration Degree or equivalent degree

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years in clinic management or equivalent administrative capacity
