SUMMARY: Responsible for all material movement within shipping and receiving department and ensuring that appropriate paperwork is included and accurate. Primary responsibilities are in the shipping/receiving department, but may perform duties of industrial truck operator as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Works from shipping papers to ship packaged wire, boxed wire and wire stored on stumps or in coils, both inside and outside the USA.
2. Receives packaged materials from others or obtains packaged materials from storage area. Ensures shipped materials match customer requirements on work order. May wrap or box wire as needed prior to shipment.
3. Processes shipping papers such as packing slips, bills of lading, inspection slips, etc., and indicates method of shipment and carrier.
4. Segregates shipments in proper areas for pick-up by carriers. Weighs or physically counts parts and records weights, counts, department and similar information on appropriate forms as part of production control system.
5. Receives material and parts from outside suppliers. Verifies incoming material and parts against purchase orders and vendor’s packing slips for correct material and count and sign as appropriate. Contact inspector to determine quality conformance. Move material delivered to correct location on production floor or to storage laydown area.
6. Operates forklift to lift, position, and transport a variety of parts, materials and equipment within and between departments, in and around the plant. Loads and unloads trucks at loading dock adjacent to regular work area. Delivers packed boxes and wrapped wire coils to shipping area. Works from established procedures, move tickets, and written and verbal instructions.
7. Maintains clean and orderly work area. Follows all safety and housekeeping rules, policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, managers, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must be certified industrial truck operator.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to read and understand work orders. Must be able to follow prescribed instructions for entering information into computerized inventory control system.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and reach with hands, and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds, assistance available. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but required to wear hearing protection and safety glasses.
