Position Overview

This position supports the Laboratory Division by receiving samples and materials, verifying chains of custody and shipping manifests, and entering incoming samples into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Maintain organization of shipping/receiving area. This position will also support the Analytical Services Laboratory by performing evaluations on safety glazing products.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive samples and materials through corporate shipping/receiving section

• Verify shipping manifests, and facilitate chain of custody forms for incoming samples

• Log incoming samples into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

• Place samples into designated hold areas for each department after LIMS entry

• Perform testing and evaluation of safety glazing products

• Facilitate shipping outgoing packages for all departments

• Support Construction Materials Laboratory by performing routine and non-routine testing

• Other duties as directed by the Laboratory Managers and/or Assistant Laboratory Managers

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

• Experience with shipping and receiving a plus, but is not required

• Experience with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is a plus, but is not required

Skills and Abilities

• Works well as a team member

• Follows verbal and written instructions for sample handling and management, as well as test method compliance

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Fork-lift operations required

Job Type

Full time, M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Overtime occasionally required

Physical Requirements

Physical Ability

• Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, bending, crawling, climbing; lift minimum of 80 pounds.

Visual Ability

• Visual accommodation necessary for reading instructions/materials necessary to perform functions of job, including computer usage.

Hearing Ability

• Ability to monitor sounds for changes in laboratory setting.

Work Conditions

• This position exposes the employee to environmental conditions typically associated with a shipping/receiving and loading dock areas, as well to laboratory testing devices and environmental factors associated with laboratory testing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
