Service/Shop Associate

We are a local, family-owned outdoor power equipment business. We pride ourselves on carrying only the highest quality equipment from Stihl, Toro, Bluebird and Briggs and Stratton among other high quality brands. All of our equipment comes set up and ready for our customers to begin using right away and we service everything we sell.

Our ideal candidate has experience working in a shop, is reliable, motivated, proactive, bilingual (Spanish/English), dedicated, listens and communicates well, and is mechanically inclined. You are detail oriented, highly organized, and take pride in your work. You care about the quality of your work, your teammates and your customers.
You will serve in a critical role as part of our small engine service and repair shop, assisting customers and our internal team, ensuring the shop runs smoothly. A solid, dependable work ethic, proactive, positive attitude and a desire to maintain an orderly, well-organized process will make you successful in this role.
Responsibilities
- Obtain a thorough and complete explanation for what the customer would like done to their equipment.
- Answer customers’ questions about specific services and pricing and provide time and cost estimates based on posted shop rates.
- Complete work order tag with: phone number, date received, customer name, date promised, work to be done, estimate for repairs/service, and order ID.
- Log designated machines and equipment service and repairs into computer-based point of sale system (Ideal) with same detail from tag for easy location and organization.
- Assign mechanic based on expertise and bring equipment to their line and move equipment between mechanics based on demand and availability.
- Call customers when their equipment is ready for pick up.
- When customer comes to pick up equipment, move equipment out of garage and load equipment into customer's vehicle.
- Clean the shop
- Ensure each work bench always has gas, oil and bar and chain lubricants and towels are restocked.
- Assemble new equipment that comes in from suppliers.
- Ad-hoc projects, as requested.
- Opportunity for promotion within the shop is available based on performance.
Minimum Skills, Requirements and Qualifications
- Able to start at 7:30 am. (Required)
- US work authorization (Required)
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Reliable transportation and driver's license (Required)
- Dependable and reliable (Required)
- Ability to drive a forklift (Required)
- Mechanically inclined (Required)
- Multi-lingual-Spanish/English (Preferred)
- Shop experience: 2 years (Preferred)
- Interest/experience fixing small engines (Preferred)
- Sit, stand, squat, stoop, turn, climb, kneel, twist, perform simple and power grasping, push, pull, perform fine hand and finger manipulations, safely lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to seventy (70) lbs., or use appropriate lifting equipment and techniques for heavier items. (Required)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
