Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity to join our team as a Service Representative in Elkader, IA and the surrounding areas! This position will plan, coordinate, supervise and perform electrical operating maintenance and construction functions and duties of a line mechanic or maintenance service mechanic. You will ensure safe and efficient continuity of service to our customers. You will make decisions within the limits of general procedures, specifications and guidelines of company policy.

Residency Requirement: 35 Minutes

This position will be filled at a Journey or Apprentice Level.

This position has emergency response requirements.

Occasional Travel up to 10% for training and zone support.

Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday with callout and OT as the need arises.

Training Locations: Marshalltown, Decorah, Elkader, West Union, Waukon

What you will do

Handle complaints.

Check and repair investigation orders.

Collections.
-
Maintain courteous and efficient communication with public.

Lay out, allocate, and direct the work of line employees working on energized and de-energized lines.

Plan, coordinate, direct, monitor, and perform construction and maintenance on lines.

Oversee use and care of vehicles, equipment, tools and materials.
-
Record and maintain accurate records and necessary follow-up procedures.

Must report to work fit for duty and free from the effects of drug and alcohol abuse.
Required Experience
-
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by vocational-technical school power line degree
-
Linesman Apprenticeship Course
-
4 to 6 years experience in line construction, operating and maintenance work
Other Requirements
-
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-
Ability to safely operate heavy equipment, hand and power tools, and other machinery as required

Read and comprehend maintenance manuals, technical instructions
-
Good verbal and written communication skills

Familiar with all company policies and procedures

Basic knowledge of First Aid and CPR

Ability to read and comprehend Right To Know information

Ability to wear all safety equipment

Will be required to work irregular hours during storm emergencies and as needed
