The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Project Manager for utility capital transmission projects. As leader of the project management team, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of the project in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with requirements and standards as set forth in the project contract(s). This position is open to remote locations.

What You'll Do

• Provide strategic leadership for large capital power utility projects
• Responsible for the overall management of the project scope, schedule, and cost
• Accountable for key project decision making
• Lead the project team – coaching, conflict resolution, facilitation, motivation, and negotiation
• Responsible for leading project meetings
• Point person for contract negotiation and management
• Accountable to develop, update, and manage the project plan
• Coordinate communication and provides status updates to stakeholders as required
• Assess project risk and proactively develop mitigation plans
• Proactively manage project requests for information and action items
• Work collaboratively with the Project Controls team to ensure project schedules and costs are managed and tracking to plan
• Responsible for leading projects through all internal and external processes
• Proficient in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implementation of recommendations to support project scope, schedule, and cost
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Demonstrates excellent leadership, verbal/written communications, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Consistently produces results that meet goals, has high work standards, and understands the business environment and processes
• Achieves results by problem solving, setting priorities, and organization
• Maintains customer focus to meet or exceed customer expectations and represent Ulteig in a professional and courteous manner

What We Expect from You

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management and/or a Minimum of 10 years of comparable field experience.
• Direct project management experience with utility and/or renewable energy projects, preferably utility scale solar projects
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and construction specifications/manuals
• Ability to read and understand construction and procurement contracts
• Ability to read and understand project schedules
• Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft office, MS Project/Primavera, and Procore
• Familiarity with GIS database systems and applications
• Demonstrate the ability to be organized and work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities
• Must be able to prepare clear and concise status updates and reports as required
• Excellent interpersonal skills including conflict negotiation/resolution and stakeholder engagement
• Ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with owners’ representatives, contractors, vendors, and others on and off the job site
• Ability to work approximately 20% in the field, nights, weekends, and more than 40 hours per week
• Assist project staff in their duties
• Track and report project/construction progress and status
• Work closely with owner, project management team, contractor management team, owner’s engineers, and utilities
• Ensure adherence to safety policies
• Ensure adherence to client’s Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs
• Report, track, and resolve non-conformance issues in coordination with QA/QC
• Review and adhere to environmental management plan
• Must have authorization to work permanently in the US
