Join a Top-Shelf Team! Virginia Alcohol and Beverage Control is currently seeking applicants for the Senior Java Developer!
The Senior Java Developer position is responsible for designing and implementing Java full stack solutions and ensuring development tasks adhere to Enterprise Architecture standards. Solutions include mobile and Enterprise systems, public facing responsive/Bootstrap,reactive html5 based web applications using Spring, Hibernate and Web API services on the back end. The Developer will collaborate with business, analysts, and stakeholders to understand project initiatives and develop technical solutions that satisfy those needs.
Key responsibilities also include providing input, recommendations, and specifications to ensure acquired applications, SAS solutions and internally developed software are designed to comply with software development and coding standards and industry best practices. The position works collaboratively with the BSA, testing, database, security, operations and support teams to ensure a shared vision and successful production implementation, integration and transition.

Minimum Qualifications
- College Degree in Information Technology or Information Systems
- Considerable experience as an Application Developer or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Working knowledge of any SDLC is required.
- Must be able to update technical documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering and interpreting user requirements, developing and writing analytical and technical documents, developing business applications and troubleshooting in an object oriented environment with emphasis on ASP.NET MVC, C#, and the Entity Framework, RESTful API development using Web API , Database development using a database such as SQL
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a team lead is desired.
- Proven history of creating, implementing, and supporting business applications.
- Proven ability to work effectively with customers and IT management and staffs.
- Must have the ability to interpret design documents and technical specifications to develop code.
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical leadership and training to senior and junior staff to deliver applications in accordance to defined requirements
