Senior Fire Protection Designer Duties & Responsibilities
- Support Senior Designers and engineers in fire suppression and detection system design tasks
- Assist & support the creation of calculations, drawings and specifications related to fire suppression and detection systems
- Assist in coordinating all aspects of the project design with project management, architects, and other trades through the completion phase of a project
- Perform and review CAD and REVIT drafting work, calculations, fabrication reports, cut sheets and field prints
- Learn and apply applicable codes, specifications and criteria required to support the design of multiple projects
- Examine field conditions, conceptual and construction documents to develop a constructible system
- Utilize your experience as a Fire Protection Designer to do hydraulic calculations, drawings and specifications related to fire suppression systems for small projects
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of small projects as it pertains to fire protection including layout, permit procurement, field surveys, coordination, creation of fabrication lists, answering and assist with field generated questions, RFI creation, and as-builts.
Senior Fire Protection Designer Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
- Knowledge of software programs related to Fire Protection - AutoSprink, Revit or other relevant programs
- If you have experience as a Fire Protection journeyman or apprentice, this is a great path into design work
- NICET II minimum preferred, with 3-5 years of experience in fire protection design work
- Experience within self QC drawings prior to submitting to peer review
- Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and lists on projects and estimate design hours for projects
- Competently and accurately decipher contract drawings, calculations, and specifications
- Previous success in competently and effectively coordinating projects
Preferred but Not Necessary
- Field Experience OR Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design
