JOB SUMMARY/ DESCRIPTION
The Osceola County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller is looking to onboard a highly motivated Senior Accountant, that is willing to work in a culture driven by public service. We are recruiting a Senior Accountant that will support the operation of the finance division of our organization with the goal of transforming and modernizing processes by leveraging technological solutions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversight of Accounting operations, which include financial accounting, accounts payable, and payroll.
- Recruitment and hiring of accounting staff and conducting performance evaluations.
- Implementation of training for new hires and identifies training opportunities for current staff.
- Oversight of the system of internal controls over accounting functions to minimize risk.
- Handling discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares financial reports and accounting statements.
- Prepares financial reports for operational management using Finance Plus.
- Posts journal entries to the general ledger.
- Generates summary sheets for use by supervisor or auditor.
- Processes payroll and prepare payroll reports.
- Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
- Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures and the ability to train others in related practices and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Proficient in Finance Plus
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Computer, Printer, Calculator, Fax Machine, Copier, Scanner
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Three years or more of related experience is required.
