Salary: $65,928.00 to $78,844.00
Purpose: Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education and Health Services, to assist students, teachers, and parents in enabling student to derive
the fullest potential educational experience from school by promoting positive self-esteem and resilience and providing suggested methods and plans for overcoming psychological
or mental health problems.

Education:
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to assignment.
- Master's Degree in Psychology.
Requirements:
- New Mexico State Certification as a School Psychologist. Licensure requirements include:
- Master's degree conferred or education specialist degree or doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university; and
- 60 graduate hours in school psychology (which may be completed as part of a Master's or education specialist degree or in addition to the Master's degree); or
- Doctoral Degree in School Psychology that includes 12 semester hours of child focused course work in development, assessment and intervention.
- And 600 hours of supervised experience in a school related setting; or
- Possess a psychologist or psychologist associate license issued by the NM Board of Psychologist Examiners that includes 12 semester hours of child-focused course work in development, assessment, and intervention and 600 hours of supervised experience in a school-related setting, and
- Passage of the following PRAXIS: School Psychologist or Possess a certificate issued by the National Association of School Psychologists.
- Motor Vehicle Driver's License.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Conducts psychological assessments, testing and diagnostic examination of students for the purpose of recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to maximize
- learning and overcoming psychological issues;
- Conducts individual, group or facilitative therapy for students whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavior modification or differentiated instruction;
- Assists with the identification and placement of all types of exceptional students;
- Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize
- stakeholders with psychological services;
- Attends IEP Meetings as needed for students with special needs;
- Serves as a resource and consultant on mental health and child psychology, conducts in-service programs as requested;
- Assists with the school district's dropout prevention efforts;
- Serves as ready resource to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity;
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or profession meetings;
- Encourages parental involvement in student' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents;
- Selects and requisitions appropriate books, aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
