POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Sales Strategy Engineer will serve as a focused operational, technical and product liaison for Zelis. In this role, the Sales Strategy Engineer will support the VP of Business Solutions with activities related to support of the Sales team as a Subject Matter Expert & Product Consultant. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for providing pre and post-sales support to Sales team, Account Management, IT & Operations via support of the Business Solutions Team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Become a recognized Subject Matter Expert on all Zelis Payments product offerings
  • Partner with the Business Solutions Team to identify client business and technical requirements during the sales cycle and determining recommended solutions and services
  • Provide presales expertise on Payment solutions to new and existing clients
  • Participate in the development of future solution strategies; assist with organization and prioritization of cross-sell pipeline(s)
  • Identify areas of opportunity within current client base and assist with pipeline development
  • Attend training on emerging technology, new products, custom solutions, etc.
  • Keep abreast of competitive positioning of products within various focused markets. Strong understanding of competition & drivers to compete and acquire new clients and maintain existing clients.
  • Maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to Zelis standards regarding privacy
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience developing and presenting client facing preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in claims payments required
  • 5+ years of experience supporting payment products preferred
  • Ability to discuss product support features (legal support, member advocacy, balance billing)
  • Ability to recommend product configurations based on plan/payer goals.
  • Prior sales experience with solution services beneficial but not required
  • Strong experience working with healthcare payers with focus on cost containment initiatives and/or technology enabled solutions within the healthcare claim lifecycle
  • Candidates must be seasoned in technical strategy and architecture steering, review and documentation
  • Proven ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Proven ability to articulate and sell technical best practices and solutions and take ownership of completing the sales cycle as SME
  • Negotiation and social problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a high-stress sales environment and multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point
  • Excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail, and superior communication skills required
  • Proven ability in modeling financial business cases associated with sales opportunities
  • Fast learner with the ability to operate within the highest levels of our target market
  • Travel required
  • Experience in CRM use, specifically with salesforce.com highly preferred
EDUCATION:
  • College degree required
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Travel requirements to (primarily) domestic destinations should not exceed 30%
  • A standard work week exists but with the understanding that additional time/effort outside of the usual parameters can/will occur based upon the overall needs of the integration, where deadlines exist and when necessary due to the needs of the integration team
  • A standard business environment exists with moderate noise levels
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required
  • Ability to lift and move approximately thirty (30) pounds on a non-routine basis
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
