POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title: Retail Sales Manager
FLSA Status: Full Time Employee / EXEMPT / Salaried
Reports to: President
Purpose: Responsible for leading the Retail Sales Department and driving revenue growth through effective sales strategies and employee relationship management. This includes overseeing the training and development of the retail sales team, managing the maintenance and optimization of DMS and CRM systems, and collaborating with Sales Reps to drive their performance and meet sales targets. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in sales management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to develop and execute successful sales strategies.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train new sales representative on the technical aspects of the bus, how to use the DMS and CRM system, and how to deliver a bus to customers the “Davey way”.
- Create new and maintain Davey Retail Quote forms and keep them up to date for all manufacturers and create new forms as manufacturers are added to our portfolio.
- Create, maintain, and facilitate a process for end user vehicle delivery education; including participating when requested by the President.
- Assist in monitoring, tracking and generating reports on weekly activity for Bus Sales Representatives. This includes but is not limited to outbound cold calls, follow up calls, quotes generated, quotes closed.
- Reporting Retail Bus Sales Representative activities to the President to strategize on how to maximize results for the Retail Bus Sales Division.
- Enter and ensure proper entry of the specs for stock units / ordered units, along with the warranties of each component in the DMS so that the unit is searchable and useable in multiple ways and by multiple departments.
- Supervise and approve Retail Sales Representative’s expense reports.
- Assist the Marketing Director with vehicle specs for the website.
- Staying current on retail industry trends, changes and opportunities for development.
- Manage the day to day needs and questions of the Retail Bus Sales Division as needed including assisting in closing deals.
- Spend time in the field with Bus Sales Representatives visiting customers and prospective customers in person.
- Assist Sales Reps with state, regional, or local bids, including training the sales rep on the process and prepping all paperwork for final submission.
- Participate in resolution of customer complaints involving the Retail Bus Sales Division as necessary.
- Travel to tradeshows in order to determine potential ROI/determine future attendance and assist training sales reps for tradeshow presence.
- Assist the Warranty Administrator on any escalations to ensure proper resolution for Davey and the customer.
- Promote the Davey Coach Culture along with the Mission, Vision and Values.
- Visit manufacturers as necessary with Bus Sales Representatives.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Retail Sales Representatives
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required (unless otherwise noted):
- Self-starter personality.
- High School diploma or GED are a minimum requirement; Bachelor degree in Business or Management preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years’ sales experience required, automotive or small bus experience a plus.
- Preferred experience in selling tangible products and services.
- Will require acquiring a motor vehicle salesperson license.
- Cold call experience. We provide leads, but a critical component of success is the ability to harvest and cultivate one’s own leads.
- Territory Management Experience preferred.
- Tradeshow Experience preferred.
- Will require acquiring a Commercial Driver’s License which includes a written test, behind the wheel exam and a Federal DOT Physical.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, email, and basic internet usage.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Must be detail oriented.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
- Ability to work well under the pressure of meeting tight deadlines in a timely manner.
- Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- Ability to work on multiple projects while maintaining focus on details required for individual assignments.
- Strong interpersonal/internal customer service skills.
- Ability to handle a high volume of work, rapidly adapt to changing environment and possess strong work ethics.
- High degree of productivity and skill in testing, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
- High degree of multitasking is strongly preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization, particularly with members of cross functional project teams.
