Position Description

Overall Responsibilities:

As an individual contributor to the Neenah Operations team, the Safety Manager will collaborate with Production Leadership on safety projects and processes to ensure a safe work environment for all production employees. This person will be present on the floor to team members and have a pulse on what safety improvements they see as opportunities.

Position Requirements

  • Daily walk arounds to connect with hourly and salaried team members and observe safety behavior
  • Responsible for conducting new hire initial safety training
  • Talk with operators daily about any safety concerns they have
  • Follow-up assessment (5 Why’s) and action item owner/assigner
  • Communicate all incidents up the org chart to ensure clear and immediate communication (Immediate report out and closure w/in 30 days)
  • Recap of all incidents (weekly and monthly)
  • Assign action items and the improvements that are listed on the SQPD boards
  • Lead and improve safety committee and its efficiency
  • Responsible for updating/posting our annual OSHA 300 logs
  • Develop/plan/execute annual evacuation and take shelter drills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or 5+ years’ experience in a Safety or EHS role
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to be hands-on and ready to delve into projects to accomplish company’s strategic goals
  • Experience working with manufacturing and assembly processes; wood industry experience preferred
  • Capability of handling projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and analytical skills
  • Strong Computer skills

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand for an extended amount of time, walk and reach with hands and arms. Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work in an environment that is not climate-controlled and can include elevated hot and cold temperatures.
