Position: Rural Leader Network Liaisons- The University of West Alabama seeks Rural Leader Network Liaisons to serve one of three territories.

Position Territories/Service Areas: (1) Alabama’s Black Belt Region, (2) Alabama’s South Alabama Region (3) Mississippi’s East Mississippi Region.

Full-time/Part-time Position: UWA recognizes the unique nature of the Rural Leader Network Liaison position, and therefore, seeks qualified applicants for full-time or part-time employment in this capacity.

Office Location: This position will work in a remote capacity, however, will be expected to conduct the scope of work with partner schools in the assigned territory/service area virtually and in-person.

Position Summary:

The Rural Leader Network (RLN) Liaison reports to the Director of Project Grow and is responsible for the individual support to identified RLN participants within the designated region. This position coordinates and facilitates meetings, professional development, and professional learning experiences to guide the growth and development of virtuous leaders.

Required

  • Earned Masters in the field of education in school leadership, teaching and professional development, curriculum/instructional design, or applicable education program.
  • Currently holds valid state licensure in AL and/or MS.
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in the applicable RLN territory.
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful school administrative leadership experience.
  • Must be a resourceful team player with flexibility.
  • Proven success in connecting stakeholders and facilitating support around common interests.
  • Demonstrates mastery of effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in developing teacher, teacher-leader, and staff competencies training and professional development opportunities aligned with a vision, mission, and core values.
  • Must be organized with mental agility that results in well thought out, timely, and effective decision making.
  • Demonstrated skill in data analysis; ability to extract meaningful insights using school-wide data.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate strategies across teacher and professional learning communities that ensure positive outcomes and goal attainment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create inclusive environments that honor and support a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives cultivating a culture of belonging.

Preferred

  • Earned doctorate in the field of education leadership
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful school administrative leadership experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in the RLN territory for the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to set direction across an entire school, influencing and motivating the team and community members to action.
  • Demonstrated command of instructional design and the benefits and tradeoffs of school design decisions in driving a school’s culture.
  • Actively participates in local and/or regional stakeholder community-based initiatives.
  • Demonstrated investment in, and understanding of, the appropriate application of social-emotional strategies to promote the development of the whole child.
  • Demonstrated ability to align finances, time, people, systems, and other school resources to support the success of all students.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide professional development, coaching, and individual support to partner schools and participants via collaboration, communication, and effective coaching practices.
  • Work closely with the Project Director to ensure that individual support and feedback for identified participants are aligned to the school’s priorities and the development goals of the participants.
  • Support participants in developing a school improvement plan to ensure a strong school culture is in place to sustain the transformational changes.
  • Spend time (approximately 80% of the time) in identified schools providing direct support to identified participants by observing instruction, data/school leadership/faculty/coaching meetings, PLCs, and daily school activities and providing support and feedback to the participants in the execution of his/her duties; partners with participants to identify specific areas to add capacity by taking on leadership responsibilities and modeling effective virtuous practices.
  • Coach and assist identified participants with a deep understanding and implementation of the character framework and research-based instructional practices.
  • Engage stakeholders and participants and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Full-Time Employment Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 - commensurate with experience and qualifications and includes an excellent benefits package

  • Full-time, 12-month position.
  • This is a two-year grant-funded position tentatively scheduled to end in September 2024. There is no guarantee of future employment when grant funds expire.

Part-Time Employment Compensation: $25,000 - $32,000 annually commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a two-year grant-funded position tentatively scheduled to end in September 2024. There is no guarantee of future employment when grant funds expire.
