Robotic/Process Technician


Summary:

Responsible for providing day to day robotic support to the manufacturing facility. This individual will also be responsible for all robotic programming for all new/prototype programs as well as making path adjustments for day to day operation or any engineering changes. Root cause of downtime, working with Maintenance to repair and troubleshoot. To provide technical assistance to assigned manufacturing processes, to ensure statistical control of that process; To maintain close familiarity with all equipment, materials, and procedures of the assigned process to ensure that it is functioning at the optimum level.

Qualifications:

Associates Degree or a minimum of 2 years experience in related field

Ability to program Fanuc robots and/or other types of robots

Waterjet path programming knowledge a plus

Glue spray path programming knowledge a plus

PC knowledge

Mechanical aptitude

Written and verbal communications skills

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's)


Responsibilities:


  • Programming all robot equipment in waterjet cutting, spray glue, and glue bead dispensing – predominantly Fanuc, but not limited to. As well as any other future application of robotic of equipment.
  • Provide technical support to production to maintain the optimum level of operation on a daily basis.
  • Support Supervisors and production personnel in a continual effort to ensure cut quality meets or exceed customer requirements.
  • Develop a working knowledge of production equipment and keep informed of new developments in manufacturing.
  • Evaluate new tooling for water jet cutting feasibility and assist in production trials for prototype products.
  • Develop and implement PM's and 5S practices on all equipment in robotic work cells/areas as well as office areas.
  • Attend training seminars in area of assigned duties as needed.
  • Write/troubleshoot programs for all robotic/automated equipment.
  • Maintain current software backups for all robots.
  • Keep up to date on all current programming techniques as they develop.
  • Determine root cause for trim line off-location in a work cell and correct before making robot adjustments.
  • Ensure robot cycle times meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Work with robotic team/maintenance to install or relocate robotic equipment within the facility as directed.
  • Troubleshoot all robotic equipment for any downtime issues or inconsistencies.
  • Assist Maintenance for equipment downtime issues wherever needed.
  • Hand off daily issues between shifts for day to day problems. Work with group to resolve problems related to robotic equipment/performance.
  • Follow all assigned job instructions (IATF) to the most current revisions for assigned processes and train Cell Leaders regarding any process changes or new process implementation.
  • Develop and implement scrap reduction methods and review all assigned process to determine areas for cost reduction as related to process improvements.
  • Carry out regular statistical process monitoring of significant characteristics as a guide and control for process adjustments, and to ensure all parameters are within assigned error limits. If not, implement permanent corrective action to allow a statistically stable process.
  • Review customer produced engineering/styling/tooling as assigned to assist in determining manufacturing feasibility, process capability, also perform process capability studies on new program launches as assigned.
  • Issue capital appropriation requests, equipment specifications, and contracts.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules on all existing and new equipment.
