Residential Child Care Staff (Part-Time) Job at The Youth Service Bureau of Jay County, Inc.

Part-time positions available on various shifts. Possible 12 hour, 8 hour, and 6 hour shifts. Will be working with youth ages 10-19. Applicant must be 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and be insurable. Prefer a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other related human service field, will accept resumes with a high school diploma or GED.

Direct Care applicants must be willing to participate as a member of a team, hold youth accountable for behaviors, possess skills in re-direction and crisis intervention, and follow specific rules/guidelines. Direct Care applicants should expect to be on their feet for the majority of shifts worked attending to the numerous responsibilities of the position. Direct Care applicants must be able to role model appropriate behavior and socially accepted interaction 100% of the time. Direct Care applicants must be able to mentor the youth in care and develop appropriate and effective rapport with the youth in care. Minimum starting pay of $13 per hour.

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Maintain general supervision of residents and related activities at all times to ensure cohesiveness within the environment among all residents.
  • Complete preparation of meals and snacks. Third shift personnel complete as much of meal as possible during shift. First and second shift complete and serve meals.
  • Instruct and guide residents in basic living skills such as personal hygiene, proper attire, eating habits, care of clothing, money management, dealing with structured and unstructured time, completion of all personal and household chores.
  • Supervise residents and document room check log every 10 minutes throughout the night (third shift is awake staff).
  • Assist residents in coping with out of home placement (i.e. addressing separation issues).
  • Attend at least one monthly staff meeting each month
  • Assist in implementation of individualized treatment program per therapist’s instructions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation with regard to daily log, medication records, bank statements, telephone and contact logs, daily chores inspection, daily assessment forms, incident reports, and all other records, which note each resident’s behavior and attitude while in residence, as applicable.
  • Provide appropriate variety of discipline as needed for infractions of an immediate nature or as necessitated.
  • Safely drive 15-passenger van and other agency vehicles.
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model in physical appearance, social skills, and daily interaction with co-workers and residents.
  • Participate in a minimum of 10 hours of training each year.
  • Orientation and direct training of new personnel as assigned.
  • Take information on telephone call from placing agency on potential placements. Relay information to case manager for approval. Complete intake paper work on any new placement.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
