Representative (OR Scheduling) Job at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital
Job Description:
The OR Representative serves as a point-of-contact for all OR Schedulers and maintains the daily flow of the sub-department. This position
collaborates with nursing staff, non-clinical staff, and other professional staff as well as referring provider offices to assist in an efficacious process flow and to ensure adherence to patient safety guidelines. This position ensures that all processes are followed with accuracy and precision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced service environment with patients, patient’s family, insurance carriers.
- Coordinates pre-operative testing date and time availability.
- Maintains operating room schedule information.
- Communicates with operating room staff for add-on surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with Pre-registration staff to ensure all patients scheduled for surgical services are pre-registered timely.
- Confirms operating start time with surgeons and assistants.
- Confirms operating room and minor procedure suite arrival time with patients.
- Keeps policy and procedure manual up to date.
- Trains new employees and reviews staff performance to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborates with clinical and administrative staff across departments to ensure ideal productivity.
- Assists in developing standardized scheduling procedures.
- Addresses the special needs of each age group served and assist in making reasonable accommodations for the hearing impaired, physically challenged or any other patient who may require services.
- Addresses the safety and psychological needs of the various age groups in planning and delivering services.
- Demonstrates appropriate understanding of the needs of patients and visitors for each specific age group.
- Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by management.
- Practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to hospital policies and HIPAA requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree in business or related field preferred.
Three (3) years experience in Revenue Cycle, Health Care and/or Medical Field required.
Two (2) years surgery scheduling experience in hospital, surgical, or physician office required.
Basic office skills and computer keyboarding skills required.
Strong communication, interpersonal and multitasking skills.
Quantative and analytical skills.
