Depot Repair Technician
Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Position Summary
The Depot Repair Technician is an essential and versatile member of Plug Power’s hydrogen fuel cell service operations. This role is responsible for defueling, diagnosing, troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing and testing hydrogen fuel cells that come in from our customer sites for service. The ideal candidate for this position will have a mechanical / service and repair background and possess a basic knowledge in the use of manual hand and small power tools. The Depot Repair Technician will work in a collaborative team environment and is focused on safety and quality making attention to detail a key trait in order to achieve our service goals. The Depot Repair Technician is always prepared to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our customers.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Defuel and purge hydrogen fuel cells as they arrive to the service center.
  • Carry out basic quality and test checks.
  • Use test equipment and document failures using an online service portal.
  • Read, interpret and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assembly instructions.
  • Operate manual hand and power tools as required in repair and validation work.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including manual and electric power jacks.
  • Be able to perform basic troubleshooting and problem solving to diagnose system, sub-system, and ancillary component issues during the repair process.
  • Adhere to environmental health and safety standards and encourage safe work habits with team including all OSHA regulations and facility safety guidelines.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping to promote a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Professionally communicate and collaborate with other Plug Power team members and supervisors.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational education/training is preferred.
  • Preferably one (1) year of experience within a service/repair environment.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience is preferred.
  • High degree of manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
  • Skilled in the safe and efficient use of hand/power tools.
  • Able to work overtime as assigned and commit to a flexible work schedule to meet workload demand.
  • Able to operate a computer and perform computer transactions accurately.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office and Excel software programs.
  • Quality focused and detail oriented.
  • Team player with great communication skills.
  • Able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time in performance of job functions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
